- Abstract
-
Jill Edwards is a stay-at-home mom where she currently takes care of her daughter Caroline. She currently works at a yoga studio called yonder yoga and hopes to continue inspiring the younger community on the importance of flexibility. She does not have very much information about the black lives matter but, in this interview, she gives helpful insight into what she thinks about the BLM movement and what it has in store for the future.
The interview starts with the interviewer asking some basic questions about the interviewee to introduce her to anyone that listens to the interview. The interviewer also asks this question to ease into the interview and for the interviewee to feel more comfortable when asked more difficult questions in the interview. The interviewer asks the interviewee what her occupation is and what got her to this role, and we find out Jill’s journey of work and how she got to where she is now. As Jill is asked deeper questions, she finds it harder to elaborate more thoroughly and easily but still, gives compelling answers to what she thinks about the BLM movement.
Jill Edwards doesn’t listen to the news anymore because she feels like it is usually never good and devastating to watch but she first heard about the Black Lives Matter movement during covid. Where she saw African Americans were being brutalized on national television which she thought was awful. She believes that the Black Lives Matter movement is a good thing because it brings to light what is going on in the world and how African Americans are not treated how they should be. She finds the movement to be a good way for African Americans to spread awareness about what is going on and how it needs to be brought to light with the discrimination that she feels is still happening in the United States.
